The Oasians are the race of aliens in The CW television series Roswell, New Mexico. Their homeworld is The Oasis, and one of their ships crash-landed in 1947 just outside Roswell, New Mexico.

Physiology

Oasians physically appear as indistinguishable from humans, and Oasians have the same range of skin and hair coloring as humans do, yet at first, their skin was more glossy and had a shining silver tone to it before their skin adjusted to Earth's atmosphere.

Oasians are immune to human illnesses. Max, Michael, and Isobel have never been sick from a human infection. Isobel and Max only get sick, such as vomiting, when they overuse their powers. Oasian-Human hybrids apparently don't systematically demonstrate the specific protein that are present in all Oasians, as Kyle couldn't detect the protein present in Maria, although she does have it as an Oasian-human hybrid.

Oasians are able to draw their power in two ways, either through their triad (meaning their chosen family); or their generation line/bloodline (meaning their literal family). although it has been proven that aliens can also strengthen themselves by killing, and as said by Jones, Noah and even Flint Manes that kills make them stronger and he and Caulfield have the research to prove it.

Oasians are also able to boost their abilities when holding or even in the proximity of energized alien turquoise, or augment their abilities to reach their highest extent. With this they can even completely develop a new ability, or their true ability, (i.e. Isobel Evans, developing her true ability of "Empathy", allowing her to sense and feel emotions, until she learned to develop it completely to use it without the turquoise).

Oasians drink acetone, which dulls their pain.

Where an Oasian dies, a flower grows from the remains. The pollen from this flower inhibits and paralyzes alien abilities for a significant amount of time, and possibly forever, as long as someone is exposed to it, yet the purple petals from the flower are the equivalent to stem cells, which are used for a variety of things, primarily they are used as an alien bonding agent, or a psychic stabilization element, due to when two aliens either in the same triad or in the same bloodline are able to use their powers to bind any piece of equipment or object of their choosing, when concentrating and can also be used to fuse different binding cell receptors together.

It seems that Oasian presence interacts with normal Earth elements, allowing the legendary alien symbol to randomly shape itself in several fundamental building blocks of the Earth, such as plants, water, fire, electricity, earth, etc... It also seems to appear on Pods when an alien is it in, as well as in a human's mind as they picture it, as shown when Wyatt Long was ask to write any information about trying to burn Liz alive, when Noah possessed him, but he couldn't remember anything and didn't even know he was drawing the symbol.

In Mr. Jones, when Max, Isobel and Michael unlocked the door, Jones was behind, they were able to open it as a triad, by touching their hands on the three parts of the triangle of the alien symbol.

Communication

Oasians communicate telepathically. They do not primarily use verbal speech, but they are capable of it, and the Oasians who came to Earth all picked it up.

When Max, Michael, and Isobel were all found after emerging from their pods, they all initially did not speak. According to Ann Evans, Max and Isobel just started speaking English one day.

Powers

It is theorized that all Oasians have powers, although according to Jones in Give Me One Reason that lots of them have powers, although he didn't say that all of them had powers, so it is unknown if all Oasians possess powers.

It is theorized that their abilities are tied to their fates and their destiny, as Jones has said that "they aren't just skills, they're who we are" and quoted that "Fire is a part of my destiny. See, it doesn't just destroy for no reason, Fire destroys to create", symbolizing that abilities are a part of who an Oasian is or will become.

As stated by Tezca, there are some powers that all Oasians have, primarily Telekinesis, although there are many powers that only specific individuals possess.

• Telepathic Communication: The primary method of Oasian communication. Presumably all Oasians are capable of this. Dallas is particularly skilled at this and can hear the prayers of others. Max and Isobel have used this specifically to find each other when far away and Rosa was able to psychically communicate with Max, while he was dead as their minds were still connected.
• Healing: Max, Jones and Louise are capable of this, although it takes a great deal of energy. Max typically gets sick after healing someone. The side-effects can be avoided by absorbing energy prior to healing, yet Jones can easily use this without the side-effects of the energy prior to his healing.
• Energy Absorption: Max, Jones, and Noah are capable of this. They can pull energy from a person into themselves, and it can lead to the victim's death. Max once absorbs energy from lightning. When Max is connected to Liz and Kyle, he inadvertently drains energy from them.
• Handprint Connection: After transferring energy between themselves and a person, either to heal the person or absorb their energy (and possibly kill them), a handprint appears. This connection includes an emotional echo, ability to find the other's location, and the ability to pull energy from the individual later. It is shown that many Oasians are able to use this in a different/specific way, though Max and Jones are primarily capable of this, many others have shown to use this such as Isobel, Noah, Michael and Nora.
• Electromagnetic Energy Manipulation: Affect, control and manipulate electrical currents. Max, Jones, and Rosa can do this. Max once causes a city-wide blackout with a burst of energy.
• Telekinesis: Moving objects and/or people with one's mind. Michael, Isobel, Max, Noah, Nora, Louise, Jones, Dallas, Tezca, Bonnie and Clyde are capable of this. Michael is especially skilled at this.
• Mental Manipulation/Mindscape: Isobel, Jones, Noah, Michael, Bonnie and Clyde are capable of this. Entering a person's mind to either influence or control them, or to talk with them. People cannot lie in the mindscape. Isobel is particularly skilled at influencing people mentally, but she can't get them to do something they would not want to do. Jones, Noah, Michael and Clyde can control people psychically and telepathically. Michael is primarily able to psychically help people break others' control on them, by allowing them to break out of the mindscape to free them. Bonnie is able to take people into her mindscape, and she possibly was able to make everyone at Roswell's banks forget what happened to them at the bank.
• Empathy: The ability to sense a person's feelings, intentions as well as their strengths and weaknesses. Maria, Mimi, Isobel and Louise are capable of this.
• Hydrokinesis: The ability to manipulate water to one's desire. Dallas is capable of this.
• Power Disabling: The ability to take away and disable the powers of other Oasians. Bonnie is capable of this.
• Shapeshifting: The ability to shapeshift into other people. Tezca is capable of this.
• Sonic Screaming: The ability to produce a high-pitched scream that temporarily immobilizes human beings. Louise is capable of this.
• Pyrokinesis and Fire Resistance: The ability to control and generate fire as well as be resistant to any and all flames. Michael and Jones are capable of this.
• Cryokinesis: Tezca has demonstrated to be capable of this. After she either arrived on Earth or was awakened, she walked passed plants and made them both bloom and frost over as she was passing by them.
• Sound Manipulation: The ability to control, negate and bend sound waves and resonant frequencies. Rosa is capable of this.
• Clairvoyance/Visions: Maria and Mimi are capable of having visions of possible future events. The outcome of these visions can be changed. This ability seems to be passed down through Maria's specific bloodline, which is also Isobel's bloodline, but this seems to be passed from her grandmother, to her mother and finally to Maria. Maria has had various visions and have been changed, yet Mimi is more accurate with visions, as she was able to see Rosa alive again as well as see Maria looking at a sign saying "Do you believe" and her to look at the signs in the water as seeing the constellation Pisces, allowing her to see the bio-weapon that could kill anyone with alien DNA, as Maria was the only one who was able to see and get rid of it, before it killed anyone.
  • Empathic Intuition: Maria and Mimi DeLuca are able to psychically detect and sense Oasian energies and activities, as when both of their minds were invaded and they both used their intuition to divine someone in their minds to detect them and interact with them, as Maria was able to unintentionally psychically push Isobel out of her mind, Mimi was able to communicate with Isobel in a mindscape with her full control and able to kick her out of her mind, when she wants to able to push her out just like Maria, and Maria was ultimately able to put Jones in a mental prison to contain him, long enough so that the others could fight Jones to protect her, until he charged up enough to break down her mental defenses. Mimi was able to detect Liz and then find their something wrong with her and how Alex's energy was similar to his father's as he came to school one day, with the darkest energy around him. Maria had another vision of three coffins, she used this ability by using tarot cards to trigger the vision, then as they representing letting them fly, she accidentally triggered another vision informing her of Michael current fatal status to go and save him.
  • Genetic Memories: Maria and Mimi DeLuca is the primary ones capable of seeing the past and future memories of the women in their bloodline. She relives the day of her grandmother, Patricia DeLuca. Maria's mother Mimi is also stated that she is capable of this. This is primarily used by the DeLuca bloodline, due to when Isobel was in Mimi's mind and stated to Isobel that she wasn't crazy and losing her mind, yet she just slips out of her time and into a different one every once and a while, sometimes Maria's or her mother and even women in their future and past and even presumably her grandmother. Louise Truman, stating that she was even able to see Isobel as a baby and the planet, Oasis.
• Paranormal Hearing/Subatomic Vibrational Frequency Detection: Ability to hear the signature sound wavelengths of any matter and/or living being. Rosa possesses this ability.
