Latest revision as of 02:36, 27 June 2023

Baron and Toluca, also styled Baron + Toluca and B+T, is a planned series from Roswell actors Brendan Fehr (who portrayed Michael Guerin) and Majandra Delfino (who portrayed Maria DeLuca). The series is an unofficial "spiritual successor of Roswell" about two former actors returning to Roswell, New Mexico.

An Indiegogo fundraiser goal of $100,000 was met on October 23, 2020, ensuring that a pilot episode would be made.[1]

The pilot episode for Baron and Toluca will have a limited theatrical release in Albuquerque, New Mexico on July 14, 2023.[2]

Premise

Entertainment Weekly described the premise in 2016:[3]

Jake Baron (Fehr) and Toluca Mendez (Delfino), former teen actors from an alien sci-fi show. (Sound familiar?) The premise of B+T is that when reunited as adults, the two are forced to work together to solve a paranormal mystery in New Mexico that’s threatening to kill both of them. Just as Maria and Michael had a love-hate-love relationship, so do Baron and Toluca.

From the Indiegogo fundraiser:[4]

BARON AND TOLUCA a.k.a B+T follows ex co-stars and exes in real life, Jake Baron (Brendan Fehr) and Toluca Mendez (Majandra Delfino) as they find themselves reunited in a familiar town in New Mexico. But when they experience a blackout and find themselves branded (and naked!) they must set aside their bickering and team up to unravel the eerie abductions that threaten to take them for good. With the local sheriff, Miles Sorrenti on their side, these three will join forces to put the pieces in place. But can they trust Miles? Can they trust each other? With time running out and clues that their crisis is steeped in deeper, global machinations, these three will do whatever it takes to save themselves, if they can just keep their damn clothes on…

Cast and characters

Development

Roswell co-stars Fehr and Delfino came up with the concept for a series, which Delfino calls a "spiritual successor of Roswell".

In 2016, a short promotional video was released to get a network to pick up the show. They also had several online campaigns to get a company such as Netflix to pick it up, without success.

In October 2020, Fehr and Delfino launched an Indiegogo fundraiser to get the series started. The goal amount was $100,000 which would ensure a pilot episode with a planned for production in 2021. Within 24 hours, they had raised over half their goal. Their goal was reached on October 23, 2020.[1] The fundraiser ended on November 22, 2020 with $172,090 from 1,654 backers.[5]

On February 4, 2021, Fehr posted an image to Instagram of him next to the 285 South sign (a major road near Roswell) with the comment, "Location scouting."[6]

As of March 24, 2022, they were editing in post-production.[7]

Release

On July 14, 2023, Baron and Toluca will have a limited theatrical release in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the South Broadway Cultural Center.[2]
