The relationship between Alex Manes and Forrest is a romance on The CW series Roswell, New Mexico. The two meet in season 2 and go on a date. The characters are portrayed by Tyler Blackburn and Christian Antidormi.

Overview[]

Alex and Forrest have a fairly fresh and uncomplicated relationship. Although they're currently not together due to Alex being uncomfortable to be seen with a man in public, both of them have made it known that they have feelings for one another.

Plot[]

Alex first meets Forrest at the Long's farm, when he and Michael Guerin started to investigate into Nora Truman, Michael's mother. Forrest informs them that aliens weren't at the barn in 1947, but Nazi spies were. Forrest helps them with their investigation by telling them that he thinks that the Air Force covered up a massacre that happened when they discovered a Nazi weapon being kept in the barn.

Alex with Maria Deluca later runs into Forrest at the Wild Pony's Mexican Market, when Forrest's dog, Buffy, comes up to Alex and Maria. Maria reveals to Alex that Forrest is helping organize open mic night at The Wild Pony. Forrest then tries to flirt with Alex by inviting him for drinks, which doesn't go well, which leads to Forrest thinking that he misread the situation. Alex corrects him by saying that in high school he had a pet lizard name Willow and that Forrest did not misread anything.

Later that day at the Wild Pony, Alex shows up for open mic night. He listens on as Forrest recites an original poem.

Alex and Forrest have their first date at Alien Gulch Paintball Park. Forrest asks Alex if paintballing would trigger any PTSD symptoms from his time in the military, which Alex answers that his PTSD triggers is "a little more complicated." Forrest then reveals that he had also served in the military, but "wouldn't go bragging about it to a guy with a Purple Heart." Forrest and Alex makes a bet saying that the loser would buy the winner a drink at the Wild Pony.

At the paintball park, Forrest shoots Alex in the leg, which causes Alex to fall. Forrest runs to Alex and Alex revealed that he lost his leg while serving. Alex explains that he doesn't tell people right away, in which Forrest replies that he should because "heroes are sexy" and he leans in with a kiss. This is abruptly interrupted with a phone call from Roswell Community Medical.

Forrest and Alex meet for drinks at the Wild Pony. Alex explains to Forrest that he didn't kiss him because he keeps hearing his father voice in his head saying that it's embarrassing being seen in public with a man. Alex then ask Forrest if he wanted to go somewhere in "private." Forrest explains to Alex that although he likes him that he doesn't want to "climb back into somebody's else closet." Alex says that he wants to be out of the closet, but he's not there yet. Forrest tells him to give him a call, when he's there. Forrest then adds that making out with a hot guy in public is hotter when it pisses off all the bigots and homophobes" and then leaves.

Alex runs into Forrest at the Crashdown Cafe, when he is picking up his food. Forrest notice Alex limping and jokes that he hopes that he isn't limping because of him shooting at his leg during their paintball date. Alex laughs and says that he just got a new prosthetic, so it take a while to get used to. Alex sees Forrest writing in his book and Forrest explains that that's where he writes his "angsty emo poetry." This sparks up a conversation about their inspirations. Alex then reveals that he's working on a song and explains that writing song lyrics is much harder compared to when he was high school. This short-lived conversation stopped when Isobel and Michael comes into the restaurant. As all three of them leaves Forrest says that he will be at the Wild Pony, if he makes it back in time.

At the Wild Pony, Alex sings Would You Come Home at open mic night, which Forrest helps organize. At the end of the song, Alex comes up to Forrest and ask if he can kiss him, in which he accepts.

I think Alex kind of looks at Forest and sees a person that he could have been had he not had his father standing in the way. And I think that that’s therapeutic and cathartic for Alex to see, and somebody who Alex is going to continue to connect with moving into Season 3."[1]
